Painless total knee replacement performed in Sarwal Hospital

JAMMU, Jan 12: Government Hospital Sarwal achieved another milestone by performing painless minimal invasive total knee replacement using latest high flex implant and minimal blood loss under Ayushman Bharat Scheme which has been launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as otherwise patient had to spent lakhs of rupees for such High Ph.D surgeries.
The surgery was performed by renowned orthopaedic Surgeon Dr Nipun Kalsotra, on a 70 years old patient who was having severe osteoarthritis knee joint with varus deformity which made him unable to perform his daily routine. Other team members who supported the surgery were anaesthetists Dr Vishal Gupta, Dr Sindoor Singh, Dr Anu Manhas, Adesh (OT assistant) and other – OT staff.
It is pertinent to mention that Dr. Nipun Kalsotra, orthopaedician has done fellowship in Sport Injuries, Arthroscopy and Joint Replacement from Germany. With the latest technique and high flex implant used, patient will now be able to sit cross leg and perform his routine activities within few days. Dr Kalsotra further said that higher authorities including Administrative Secretary Health, Bhupinder Kumar, Director Health services Dr Saleem ul Rehman and Medical Superintendent Dr Vijay Raina provided all necessary infrastructure required for such procedures.
