Painting competition on drug abuse held

GANDERBAL, June 12: In observance of “International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” on June 26, Narcotics Control Bureau Jammu organized Painting Competition in Government Girls Middle School Nunar, here today.
25 students participated in the event and presented their thoughts on drug abuse through paintings.
Sarpanch Shakeel Ahmed and president Ganderbal Civic Forum, Ajaz Ahmed were the special guests on the occasion, while the function was attended by the Principal and staff of the School, besides the staff from Narcotics Control Bureau, Jammu.
On the occasion, the Bureau distributed note book covers embedded with messages against drug abuse to the students for raising awareness in the society.
It is pertinent to mention here that the United National General Assembly on December 5, 1987 passed a resolution proclaiming June 26 of every year as the “International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” and in pursuance to this declaration, this day is observed all over the world to raise public awareness against the menace of the drugs.
