“The Indian Army troops at the LoC fired in gaps to disperse the people. Pakistani posts were seen actively abetting and instigating civilians to violate the Line of Control. Indian Army has till now shown restraint to avoid civilian casualties,” they said.
They noted that this was yet another example of Pakistan wanting bloodshed on the Line of Control.
In utter frustration following withdrawal of special Constitutional provisions of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcation of the State into two Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh, Pakistan army has been instigating its civilian population to march towards LoC for protests with a view to attract international attention.
Meanwhile, Pakistan army resorted to mortar shelling and heavy firing in Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district at 7.45 am today. The Indian side retaliated effectively, leading to exchanges for about one and a half hour.
At about 5 pm, Pakistan started heavy shelling and firing in Shahpur Kirni and surrounding areas in Poonch sector. The Indian side again gave befitting response to the Pakistani side.
However, there were no reports of any casualties or damage on the Indian side.
