Raina made these remarks during a condolence visit to the residence of Kaisar Ahmad in Anantnag who lost his life in an attack in Gulmarg, along with two porters and two other army personnel. “These attacks are not good for anyone and must stop. Jammu and Kashmir has always maintained peace and harmony. It has always raised the flag of India. This murderous game is not beneficial to anyone and it must end,” he said.
Regarding India-Pakistan relations, Raina said that India has always extended a hand of friendship, but the effort needs to be reciprocated. “Our neighbouring country, Pakistan, does not value friendship. It does not value peace or people,” he said.
He further emphasized India’s efforts to maintain cordial ties with nations across the globe. “We all remember when Atal Bihari Vajpayee, as Prime Minister, travelled to Lahore by bus. India was the first to build friendly relations with countries worldwide,” he said.
Raina also mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s diplomatic outreach. “When PM Modi took office in 2014, he invited the prime ministers of all SAARC countries, including Pakistan’s. Later, while returning from Kabul, he made a stop in Lahore,” he said.
Commenting on the recent meeting between Indian Prime Minister Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan, Russia, Raina highlighted the role of both the Indian Army and political leadership in fostering diplomatic progress. “India always strives for peace and harmony with all nations,” he said.
