Pak fires mortars, HMG in Poonch, violates truce

JAMMU : (UNI) After a brief lull, Pakistan yet again violated the ceasefire on the Line of Control by  firing mortars and Heavy Machine Gun in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Pak again resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation after a brief lull last night and fired heavily in Saujiyan and Mandi areas of Mendhar,” an official spokesperson said here today.
He said the firing started at 2200 hrs and continued till 0100 hrs and Pakistan fired120 mm mortars, 82 mm mortars and Heavy Machine Gun. “Our troops responded effectively and gave a befitting reply,” the spokesperson added.
“No injury or damage has been reported so far due to firing,” he stated.       In the last two days, six people have been killed and more than 20  injured in |cross-border firing in Rajouri and Poonch districts. (agencies)
