Pak firing : Alert sounded in Samba, Kathua districts, people asked to stay indoors

JAMMU, Oct 7: In view of continuous cross border firing,  Jammu and Kashmir Police today sounded alert in the bordering  hamlets of Samba and Kathua districts and also asked border  residents to stay indoors especially during night times.
“As prevailing situation along the border is tense, so as precautionary measure, we have sounded in the border areas especially those which are close to the international border,” Mohan Lal, Senior Superintendent of Police, Kathua told.
He said people have been advised not to move freely and also remain alert, adding, “They have been asked to keep their cattle within the house premises.”
SSP added that certain locations have also been identified and if required, border people can be shifted there at the time of urgency.
However, the Samba district administration and police has also sounded alert in the area besides the border.
“We have appealed to people to remain alert and restrict their movements,” a senior police official said.    He said residents have been asked not to panic and they can take shelter in safer locations during the cross border firing.
“People have been told not to sleep on the roof of their houses,” he said, adding that alternate arrangements have been made at various places to shift people to that locations during urgency.
“Situation along the border is tense but we have shifted the people of bordering belts from Arnia, R S Pura, Pargwal, Kanhachak to buildings identified,” Ajit Sahu, District Development Commissioner, Jammu told here.
He added, “We are holding time to time meetings and guiding people in this hour of crisis,” adding, “We have shifted people in government as well as private buildings and also arranged for their food, water and other essential commodities.” (Agencies)
