Pak firing in Mendhar sector

JAMMU, Oct 6: Pakistan Army today again opened firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar sector of Poonch district targeting forward positions of the troops.
Reports said Pakistani troops started firing at 4 pm in parts of Mendhar sector using automatic weapons and small firearms. Troops from this side retaliated effectively, leading to exchanges that continued till 6.30 pm.
No reports of casualties or damage came from the Indian side.
For the past few days, Pakistan Army had been violating ceasefire in Mankote and Mendhar sectors. Sources said the firing was aimed at pushing the militants into the Indian side.
However, alert Army troops have thwarted the intrusions bids by the militants, which were backed by covering fire of Pakistan Army.
