Troops recovered body of one of the militants from the spot and sent it to Raja Sukhdev Singh District Hospital Poonch for post-mortem and completion of other legal formalities.
Search is on for recovery of second body.
Though identity of slain militants hasn’t been established, both of them were Pakistani militants.
Recoveries made from their possession include one AK-47 rifle with four magazines, one pistol with two magazines and 44 rounds, one grenade, binocular, Night Vision Device, batteries, wire cutters, lighters and Pakistan made medicines, dry fruits and food.
“Recoveries of Pakistan made items indicated that the militants were Pakistanis and were infiltrating to this side to step-up militancy in Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi districts,” the sources said.
Troops have been maintaining very high alert on the LoC to thwart intrusion bids by the militants.
Meanwhile, security forces continued searches in Chassana area of Reasi district where a Pakistani militant had managed to escape after killing of his associate.
However, there was no fresh contact with him, the sources said.
There has been spurt in infiltration attempts but most of such bids have been successfully thwarted by the troops on the Line of Control in Poonch and Rajouri districts.
