JAMMU, Jan 24: The Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, RR Swain, today emphasized the need to strengthen the security grids across Jammu and Kashmir as according to him Pakistan and its agencies have been making continuous efforts to revive terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
Chairing a high-level joint security meeting at the Police Control Room in Kashmir to access preparedness for the upcoming Republic Day, the DGP directed officers of different security agencies to increase intelligence gathering, area domination, naka checking, and security of sensitive places to ensure incident-free Republic Day celebrations in Valley.
The meeting was attended by officers from various security agencies including Police, Army, CRPF, BSF, SSB, CISF, and other sister agencies.
“Since Pakistan and its agencies have been making incessant efforts to revive terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, effective security grids need to be placed across the UT to ensure that no untoward incident occurs on the day of celebration of Republic Day,” he said, while addressing the officers.
The DGP stressed the importance of monitoring and taking action against the terror support system, directing special attention to identifying and countering any form of support provided to terrorists.
He highlighted the desperation of handlers from across the border to create disruption, urging field formations to carefully examine intelligence inputs and take necessary measures to foil subversive attempts.
Additionally, the DGP emphasized the need to strengthen the human intelligence system, employ modern tools to track terrorists, and develop counter-strategies based on the technology used by them.
The officers were instructed to conduct a detailed review of threat scenarios in their respective areas, ensuring a hierarchy-based responsibility for security measures.
In a comprehensive review, officers provided feedback on the security scenario in their jurisdictions and the measures taken for Republic Day.
Following the joint security meeting, the DGP visited Victor Force Awantipora in South Kashmir, accompanied by key officials.
Discussions centered on the security scenario, challenges, and measures to maintain peace in the region.
The GoC Victor Force presented a detailed overview of the security situation, highlighting the teamwork of the Army, Police, and CAPFs in preserving peace and order.
DGP RR Swain appreciated the synergy between forces but emphasized the need for further improvement at both staff and operational levels.
He underscored the significance of protecting and improving the hard-earned peace in Jammu and Kashmir, achieved through the sacrifices of numerous officers and jawans.
Continuing his engagements, the DGP visited the Police Training Centre in Lethpora, Awantipora.
Addressing trainees, faculty, and staff, he commended the progress made at the facility and stressed the importance of quality training. The DGP urged trainees to focus on building steady peace and ensuring public safety in their future duties.
Accompanied by ADG Law & Order, Vijay Kumar and DIG South Kashmir Range, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, the DGP interacted with trainees and distributed cash rewards among them, recognizing their efforts.
The visit aimed to encourage sustained efforts to make the Lethpora Training Centre one of the best in the country, with a commitment from the Police Headquarters to provide necessary support.
