Pak militant slips out from cordon 4th time

SRINAGAR, Dec 7: A Pakistani militant who had come to Srinagar for Fidayeen attack two months ago gave slip to the security forces for the fourth time after they zeroed in on him this week in Bandipora area of North Kashmir.
Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Srinagar and 13 Rashtriya Rifles of Army cordoned off Hajan area of Bandipora district two days ago after they received specific information about presence of Mehmood Bhai alias Abdullah alias Abu Hurraira in the area.
But Abdullah gave slip to the security forces at Hajan and later they picked up two persons, Mohammad Iqbal Wani and Meharahdin Parray of Hajjan, for questioning. Sources say that he has fled back to Sopore where he landed up a month ago from Srinagar.
Sources said that Abdullah, 17, has infiltrated into Kashmir valley to carry out Fidayeen attack in Srinagar. He was dropped in Soura area of Srinagar by LeT men to carry out Fidayeen attack but he failed to carry out and was trapped in an encounter in Ahmad Nagar area of Srinagar.
Security forces for the past few days have launched a massive hunt in Sopore area of North Kashmir against the militant.
So far 15 people were arrested by security forces for providing shelter and logistics to Abdullah.
Abdullah, who the security forces feel, had come to Srinagar two months ago to carry out a Fidayeen attack was in Srinagar for over a month after he lost contact with his group during a gun battle in Ahmad Nagar Srinagar on October 2.
Abdullah was trapped in a security cordon on October 2 in Ahmad Nagar area of Srinagar in a Shawl weaving centre after Police and CRPF launched a joint operation against him.
At least eight police men including a Sub-Inspector of Police were injured in the gun battle that raged and the LeT militant fled to nearby Anchar lake under the cover of darkness.
Security forces later launched massive searches of Ahmad Nagar and Anchar but the militant was not found and he was reportedly hiding in seven different house during his stay in Ahmad Nagar and Police and CRPF launched several operations in the area but failed to trace him out.
In Sopore early last month, Abdullah gave slip to security forces after security forces raided house of Salim Ahmad Dar. Dar also fled with Abdullah but was later arrested by police.
