Pak opens firing in Arnia

JAMMU, July 5:  Pakistani Rangers resorted to firing on two forward BSF posts in Arnia sector this evening but there were no casualties. The BSF retaliated, leading to exchanges.
Official sources said the Rangers opened firing on the two BSF posts in Arnia sector along the International Border first at 6.52 pm, which continued for three minutes and then at 7.15 pm to 8.35 pm.
The BSF retaliated to silence the guns of the Rangers.
There were, however, no casualties or damage on the Indian side in the firing, sources said, adding that though the villages were not target of the firing, the people got panicky anticipating that the Rangers could also resort to firing on civil population like last year and start of this year.
Intermittent firing by the Rangers continued till late tonight, sources said, adding that the BSF was retaliating.
