JAMMU, July 27: A Pakistani trooper was killed and eight suffered injuries in retaliatory action by the Indian Army against unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Pakistan army along the Line of Control in Poonch district today.
”Pakistan army resorted to repeated unprovoked ceasefire on forward Indian villages at a number of places along the LoC today,” sources said here.
They said the Indian Army retaliated strongly in Hajipir, Poonch, Chhamb and Rakh Chikri sectors on LoC and in retaliatory action, one Pakistani trooper was killed and eight were injured.
Sources said the Pakistan army man was killed in Bhimber area, while one each suffered injuries in Hajipir, Rakh Chikri and Padhar areas and five in Poonch belt.
Earlier in the morning, Pakistan troops violated the ceasefire by firing unprovoked along the Line of Control in Poonch district.
Sources said that at about 1030 hrs, Pak initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and shelling with mortars along LoC in Mankote sector, district Poonch. The Indian Army retaliated befittingly to cross-border firing.
Pakistan troops on Sunday had also violated the ceasefire by firing unprovoked in Poonch district.
Rangers also violated ceasefire along the International Border in Kathua Sector targeting civilian population.
Through there was no casualty on the Indian side, some houses suffered damage.
