Pak troops violate ceasefire in Kashmir

SRINAGAR :  Pakistani troops today violated ceasefire in Nowgam sector in north Kashmir when they resorted to indiscriminate and unprovoked firing on Indian positions in forward area, official sources said here.
They said Pak troops opened fire with medium and light weapons on some forward pickets near the Line of control (LoC) in Nowgam sector.
Indian troops also retaliated and the exchange continued for more than half an hour, they said, adding that there was no casualty on this side.
However, it was not immediately clear if Pakistan troops suffered any casualty, they added.
Sources said Pakistan resorted to firing to provide cover to militants to enter this side as snow had started melting.
A large number of trained militants are waiting across the border to sneak into this side this summer. However, sources said troops have already intensified foot and night patrolling all along the Loc to foil any infiltration bid from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK).
India and Pakistan agreed for a ceasefire on the LoC in  2003.
However, Pakistan has violated the ceasefire more than 20 times since 2003.
