Pak violates ceasefire; HM militant held

SRINAGAR, Oct 24: Pakistani troops today violated ceasefire in Nowgam sector along the Line of Control in North Kashmir.
It is for the fourth consecutive day that Pakistan has violated the truce agreement along the LoC in the Kashmir valley.
“Pakistan started unprovoked firing in Nowgam sector along the LoC at 9.30 am today,” an Army official said.
He said Indian troops retaliated strongly to the Pakistani action and intermittent exchange of fire was going on till afternoon.
He said no casualties have been reported in the ceasefire violation on the Indian side.
Pakistani troops targetted Indian posts and villages in the Uri sector over the past three days, resulting in the death of a civilian porter and injuries to two women.
In the meantime, a militant of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit was arrested in Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district today.
A joint team of Special Operation Group (SOG) of police and CRPF, following a tip off, raided the area and apprehended the militant.
He was identified as Arizoo Bashir Najar, a resident of Mandoora Tral. He had gone missing on September 20 this year and later his pictures with AK-47 rifle surfaced on sections of social media.
Arizoo was earlier arrested in January this year and remained behind bars for almost five months before released on bail.
