Pak woman attempts self-immolation

RAJOURI, June 4: A young woman hailing from Gujranwalla in Pakistan and married to a youth hailing from Budhal in Rajouri made suicide attempt by pouring kerosene oil on her body.
The victim, Shabnam Kouser (29), ReT teacher Sajjad Ahmed Lone, resident of Thalla Draman village in Budhal, is pregnant by four months and is now struggling for life in the Govt Medical College Hospital, Jammu. Daughter of Khawaja Ghulam Mohammed, hailing from Gujranwalla in Pakistan, the woman was married to Sajjad from Budhal about five years back.
A police spokesman said that the members of the in-laws’ family claimed that Shabnam after some tiff with husband and others over a petty issue went inside the room in fit of anger poured kerosene oil on her body and set herself on fire. The family members doused the flames and rescued her.
The police party from Budhal led by SHO (DySP prob) Sajjad Ahmed, after receiving information rushed to the spot and shifted the woman with 60 % burn injuries to local hospital at Budhal. She was then referred to GMC hospital Jammu. The DySP said that woman was not fit for statement and a case was registered in this connection. Further, investigation was in progress.
