JAMMU, Oct 28: Pakistan army today violated ceasefire by targeting forward posts and villages with small arms firing and mortar shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district.
The latest ceasefire violation took place a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Diwali with troops guarding the LoC at the B G brigade headquarters in Rajouri town.
“At about 2.30 pm, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing of small arms and shelling with mortars in Nowshehra sector. The Army is retaliating befittingly,” reports said.
Pakistani troops targeted civilian areas forcing the villagers to take shelter in bunkers and safe places.
The cross-border firing was still going on but there was no report of any casualty or injury on the Indian side.
According to official figures, Pakistan army violated ceasefire along the LoC over 2,100 times this year, leaving 29 Indians dead and scores of others injured.
