ISLAMABAD, June 27: Pakistani security forces dismantled a terrorist network of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and arrested its two top commanders, Home Minister of the country’s southwest Balochistan province Zia Ullah Langau announced on Wednesday.
The Home Minister told a press conference in the provincial capital of Quetta that law enforcement agencies carried out an intelligence-based operation that led to the dismantlement of a terrorist network and arrested its commanders Nasrullah alias Maulvi Mansoor and commander Idress alias Irshad.
The Minister added that the detained terrorist commanders were actively engaged in terrorist activities in Balochistan against security personnel and development projects with the help of “foreign hostile forces.”
On the occasion, the minister shared a video statement of the terrorist named Nasrullah in which he admitted that he has been a member of the TTP for the last 16 years and participated in several terrorist attacks on public and security forces.
The terrorist said that he fled to Afghanistan after Pakistani security forces launched the anti-terrorism operation Zarb-e-Azb in June 2014 and he remained involved in cross-border terrorist acts from the Afghan province of Paktika.
The terrorists revealed that the TTP joined hands with the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and he was appointed commander to conduct joint attacks in Balochistan to sabotage the development projects in Pakistan.
