UDHAMPUR, July 6: Pressing for closure of wine shop and liquor bar in the locality, a complete shut down was observed in Panchari where locals also held a day-long protest demonstration.
A large number of locals, mostly women, assembled under the banner of Lander Bamag Panchari (PLB) United Front and held a protest demonstration.
Raising slogans in support of their demands, the protesting women took out a protest march in the village. They also warned to further intensify the struggle if the wine shop and liquor bar are not closed.
The protesting people said that the wine shop and liquor bar in the area was big nuisance besides a threat to dignity of people, particularly women folk. They added that wine shop brings a negative impact on the young generation and spoil the healthy atmosphere of the society.
The protesters also drew attention towards increase in crime graph and recent incidents of rape and murder, wherein the accused had committed these heinous crimes under the influence of liquor.
