KATHUA, Mar 19: The Panchayat members including Sarpanchs, Panchs and BDC chairmen of Kathua district showed their resentment for ignoring the two tiers of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and held a strong protest march in the town today. Numbers of PRI members and BDC Chairmen assembled at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park, here and started the protest march towards DC office Kathua.
They were raising the slogans in favor of their demands and against the UT Government to ignore them and were not given the equal rights. They also submitted a memorandum of demands to DC Kathua, Rahul Yadav addressed to Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha.
The BDC chairmen Brijeshwer Singh, Sudesh Kumar, Raj Singh, Sarpanchs Aradhana Andotra highlighted the demand including keeping of budget provisions for Panchs and Sarpanchs, enhancement of perks of the grass root democratic pillars, protocol and CDF/BDF to the BDC chairpersons and DDC members must be equally entertained by the Government, liability of MGNREGA must be cleared, BDCs should be made part of DDPC etc.
