Panchayat members “hijack” admn in rural areas: NC member

Srinagar, Oct 11: National Conference member today said Sarpanchs and Panchs have “hijacked” the whole administrative system in rural areas as “no accountability” is in place for the Panchayati members.
“Sarpanchs and Panchs have hijacked the administrative system in rural areas. And have pestered people in these areas claiming being the heads of the districts,” said Abdul Majeed Bhat, while moving his Resolution in the Legislative Council on ‘Sarpanchs and Panchs be made accountable and rules and regulations be introduced for proper implementation of Panchayati Raj System’.
Later, he withdrew his Resolution after the members opposed it.
