‘Panchayat poll useless for migrants’

JAMMU, Nov 17: Kashmiri Pandits today said that by casting their vote in Panchyat elections in Kashmir Valley will not serve any purpose for them.
In a statement issued here, today by Sunil Pandita representing displaced unemployed youth from Valley demanded that the Government should instead constitute some Municipal and Panchayt Halqas in migrants camps at Jagti, Nagrota, Purkhoo, Muthi and Buta Nagar and constitute the bodies for displaced people to govern the development in their colonies. He said by casting vote for Panchs and Sarpanchs inValley where from the community has been forced to migrate over 30 years back will not serve any purpose.
Pandita made an appeal to State Governor, S P Malik to look into the problems of the displaced people and pay a visit to migrant camps of Jammu including Jagti township to ascertain the problems faced by the people living there.
