Pandits will return on their own conditions: Bakaya

JAMMU, Mar 29: Maintaining that Pandits are the inseparable part of Kashmir, former Chief Secretary and general secretary, Apni Party, Vijay Bakaya today said, that the community will return to Valley on its own terms and conditions.
Addressing a function jointly organised by Pir Panchal (Radio Sharda) and Jyotshi Karyalya here, today Bakaya said that the community showed lot of resilience and courage in overcoming the hardships of turmoil and pangs of migration. It did not allow these hardships to overcome in its way to march ahead.
He said “It is a matter of pride that our younger generation instead of looking towards the scars left them to fill up themselves and marched ahead to carve out a niche for themselves in the society”. “We really feel proud of them as they worked hard and created a place for them selves instead of repenting on the tragedy which the community met over 31 years back”, he added.
He said this is the greatest achievement of the community which despite living in dingy tents and one room tenements did not give up and continued their struggle with determination for a better future. He said Kashmir belongs to Pandits and the community will return on their own terms and conditions and not on those set by others.
Bakaya was the chief guest in the function while Vice Chancellor, Central University, Prof Ashok Aima was the guest of honour. He, while speaking showed his utmost satisfaction over the institutes set up by the community members for keeping the Kashmir culture and language alive.
Prof Aima said the community gets extinct in case it loses its culture and language. In this regard he complimented Radio Sharda, Director, Ramesh Hangloo saying the radio is beamed in 120 countries of world and Pandits settled abroad are performing Shivratri pooja through this medium which shows it has tied the community all over the globe. On the occasion Ramesh Hangloo was presented an award by the Jyotshi Karyalya.
In his address Hangloo highlighted the role of Radio Sharda while Pt Avtar Krishan Shastri and Puneet Shastri resolved that they in future will work jointly in removing all discrepancies regarding the religious festivals and work for unity in the community.
Well known artist Bihari Kak and Jai Krishan Raina, K K Pandita, Kuldeep Raina, president Samjik Vikas Sansthan and Nana Ji Raina, BJP leader were among others who attended the function.
