Panel to monitor performance of Govt Advocates, Prosecutors

JAMMU, May 23: The Government has sanctioned the formation of a committee tasked with monitoring the performance of Government advocates in the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, as well as prosecutors in various trial courts across the regions.
As per an order, the committee so constituted shall be headed by Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department with Special DG, CID, J&K, Director General Prosecution, J&K, Secretary, Department of Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs, and IGP Headquarters, PHQ, J&K as the Members.

The committee shall review the performance of the Government advocates as well as Prosecuting officers and suggest remedial measures wherever required, besides formulating broader principles of appointment of Prosecuting officers and engagement of Government advocates that can guide the concerned authorities, the order said.
“The committee shall meet at regular intervals and shall be serviced by the Department of Law, Justice, & Parliamentary Affairs,” the order further said.
