Panic in Mananu village as flood water inundates area

SAMBA, Aug 23: Due to lack of drainage of flood water in the village Mananu in Samba district, the rain water has entered many residential houses in the area for the past several days. People are facing many problems due to lack of drainage system as entire Basti has submerged in the rain water with cesspools lying every where.
According to the reports, no steps have been taken to drain out this water by the authorities which is posing a threat to residential houses as well as spread of epidemic in the area at such a time when the threat of COVID-19 also looms large and spread of epidemic will be a big catastrophe for the people.
The village Mananu, which is situated on the Samba Mansar road and a brook flows near the village. Its flood water enters people’s houses due to lack of proper drainage system in the area. In such a situation, a lot of water has accumulated outside people’s houses. Many people have taken away their belongings and brought them to a community hall built near by and they have also taken shelter there.
Teerath Ram, a resident of the village Mananu , said that that people have become panicky as their houses are in three feet deep water posing a grave threat to their durability. Even small children are unsafe due to water logging, he added.
