NEW DELHI, Sept 19: The Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has appointed senior IAS officer of the State Pankaj Jain as the new Secretary in the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation.
Jain, a 1978-batch officer of Jammu and Kashmir cadre, will take charge from Vilasini Ramachandran, a 1977-batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre, after her retirement on September 30, official sources said today.
The ACC has also approved appointment of Amarjit Singh, a 1982-batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre, as Department of School Education and Literacy Additional Secretary with effect from August 23 by temporarily upgrading the post held by the IAS officer, it said.
The appointment of Rohit Nandan, a 1982-batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, as Air India CMD in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary was also approved by the ACC.
Further, senior IAS officer Arun Kumar Jain has been appointed as the new Secretary General in National Human Rights Commission.
Jain, a 1977-batch IAS officer of Nagaland cadre, is presently adviser of Inter State Council Secretariat under Ministry of Home Affairs, a Department of Personnel and Training statement said here today. His appointment came following retirement of Rajiv Sharma, a 1976-batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre.
Earlier, yesterday the ACC approved 28 Secretary level appointments on in-situ basis by temporarily upgrading the posts held by the officers.
