Panthers, others pay homage to student martyrs

JAMMU, Oct 17: To pay homage to the student martyrs, who sacrificed their lives in 1966 agitation, leaders of Panthers Party and its student wing assembled at Shahidi Sthal in front of GGM Science College Jammu.
Several senior members of the civil society, political and social activists also visited the memorial site to pay homage to the student martyrs.
Prof Bhim Singh, while paying homage to the student martyrs, expressed gratitude to the people of Jammu who have stood like a rock with the students’ movement fighting for equity and justice for 50 years. Others who joined the ceremony included Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman-JKNPP, Balwant Singh Mankotia, president-JKNPP, Gulchain Singh Charak, president-Dogra Sadar Sabha and others.
NPSU president, Thakur Virender Singh, Anita Thakur (general secretary) and ex-MLA Yashpaul Kundal (president, Young Panthers) also paid their homage to the student martyrs.
They also paid homage to the student martyrs who were killed in Poonch, Udhampur and Kishtwar during that movement in 1966 seeking university for Jammu and other civil rights for the people of entire Jammu province.
