RAMBAN, Oct 19: The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party’s “Vilay Divas (Accession Day) Rally” reached district Ramban today.
Led by Party’s State president Balwant Singh Mankotia, former MLA from Udhampur, the party activists in large numbers carrying national flags in hands assembled at Dak Bungalow Ramban and took out a massive rally. The rally after passing through several markets, lanes and streets, finally culminated at Bus Stand where the party leaders addressed the gathering.
Mankotia while addressing the rally said that Panthers Party had been celebrating Accession Day in Jammu since the time of the inception but this time the party had decided to hold district wise rallies to celebrate Accession Day of the State of Jammu & Kashmir with the Union of India like a National Carnival which falls on October 27. He disclosed that the rally was started in Poonch on October 17 followed by Rajouri on October 18 to commemorate the historic decision of Maharaja Hari Singh to accede the State with the Indian Union on October 27, 1947.
The NPP leader disclosed that the final rally shall be taken out on October 27 in Jammu which would culminate at Hari Singh Park (Statue). Mankotia said that for the last 100 days certain anti- national elements were hell bent to showcase that people of J&K were reluctant to stay with India but the success of these rallies had proven that the majority of people of the State were hard core nationalists who always endorsed the Accession. He added that great participation of the people including Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs ,Christians and others in the rallies had given a befitting reply to the divisive secessionist ideology being operated from few quarters in Kashmir.
Sewa Singh Bali district president of NPP (Ramban) appealed to the people to maintain unity and mutual brotherhood at all costs for keeping the secular character of the region intact and alive.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Shakeel Wani, Kuldeep Kumar, Shankar Singh, Mohd Ashraf and Bahadur Singh.
