The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Virender Raina, President, Panun Kashmir.
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, BJP State spokesperson on Kashmir Affairs and Prof RL Bhatia, Constitutional Expert were the special guests in the meeting.
Those who participated in the deliberations among others included Prof ML Raina, Adviser,  Upinder Kaul, General Secretary, Kamal Bagati, General Secretary (Org), JL Kaul, Vice President, SL Bhat, KK Kaul, PK Bhan, RL Sharma, Vimla Chrungoo, Sunita Raina, Santosh Sharma, Sameer Bhat and Vikram Singh.
The meeting discussed the current political scenario and made an assessment of the situation post the passage of CAB in the country. The members appreciated the role of the Central Government to make amendments in the Citizenship Act to facilitate granting citizenship to the minorities of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, who have been living as refugees in the country for a long time now.
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo in his address said that the displaced Hindus of Kashmir can well understand the pain of these refugees and also appreciate the relief that has been provided to them by the Modi led government.
“It is a historic occasion when the spirit of human rights in context of those whose last resort is India has been upheld. All those migrants and refugees who were forced to come to India after experiencing religious genocide, ethnic cleansing and extermination in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh have been provided justice by Mother India”, said Chrungoo.
Virender Raina in his presidential speech made it clear that the time has come for achieving the rest of the demands made in the Margdarshan Resolution 28 years ago.
Prof KL Bhatia said that it is an irony that Rohangyas and illegal immigrants from Bangladesh living in various parts of India have been used as the vote bank by the political parties in India, adding in order to detect and deport such people, the CAB needs to be followed by NRC which is already being monitored by the legal mechanism.
