Para teacher culture

Sir,
Teacher’s role in the present society has become increasingly important in view of the deviation observed in the normal social behaviour. The role of an ideal teacher is to reshape the social behaviour and mould it towards a productive and law abiding society.
Education is that powerful tool which can modify a raw behaviour into a  human behaviour and in that respect, a teacher has immense responsibility to shoulder.
Unfortunately over the last decades, education  as  any other facet of life  has undergone an evolutionary change thanks to the process of commodification. Education has become a commodity and teachers have become para-teachers.
Para teachers are the persons who are similar to teachers but not the teachers in the real sense of the word. Ethically, the teacher is supposed to develop all the personality dimensions of the student. However, in today’s para teacher culture, the teacher addresses only the institutional  component of the education, the only goal is to complete the syllabus in a stipulated time. All other aspects of the child personality are ignored. The result is that we produce a brigade of useless human resource and delinquent social behaviour has received a fillip.
Utter need of the time is to overhaul the education  system and make it comprehensive in approach. Stress has to be laid on moral, spiritual, scientific propensity of students. A sub committee of educationists, planners and other experienced persons should be constituted to present their report and implemented in a time bound manner, to address this social cause.
Yours etc….
