JAMMU, May 25: Om Prakash Gupta, a former bureaucrat and father of Ex Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Pardeep Gupta, passed away here yesterday at an age of 92.
He was given a quite funeral attended only by close family members and friends, in view of the spread of Covid-19.
Popularly known as Omji, Om Parkash Gupta had served as Private Secretary with then Chief Minister Shiekh Mohammad Abdullah from 1975 to 1982. Earlier he was inducted in the initial constitution of KAS in 1965, after completing LLB from Utakal University in Odhisa. He served with stalwarts like D P Dhar and Mir Qasim and held the post of Secretary Food Supplies & Transport Department at the time of his retirement in October 1983.
He is survived by a daughter and two sons, including Pradeep Gupta, former Divisional Commissioner Jammu. In view of the prevailing pandemic, the family has requested friends and well wishers to pray for the departed soul from their respective abodes.
