SRINAGAR, Mar 9: The parents’ community in the Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district today urged authorities to introduce additional subjects at the 10+2 level at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Uri.
A delegation of parents, led by Aijaz Ahmad, stated that the school administration had already raised the matter with higher authorities, but no action had been taken so far.
“We demand the introduction of new courses at the school, including Computer Science, Biochemistry, and others,” he said.
Aijaz added that this has been a long-pending demand of parents in Uri, yet the issue remains unaddressed.
“Introducing these subjects will provide students from this remote area with enhanced knowledge and better learning opportunities,” he said.
He further noted that the school Principal had written to the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Baramulla in January regarding the matter, “but there has been no response so far.”
Another parent urged that the courses be introduced by the end of March.
“At a time when the Government is promoting ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao,’ why are girls in remote schools being deprived of basic education?” he asked.
Parents have appealed to the Education Minister, the Commissioner Secretary of Education, and the MLA of Uri to address their concerns on a priority basis.
