Parkash Utsav of Guru Hargobind celebrated with religious fervour

JAMMU, June 29: The Parkash Utsav of 6th Guru of Sikh, Guru Hargobind Ji was celebrated with religious fervour across J&K.
In this connection, many religious functions were organized in different districts of Jammu and Kashmir, besides two main functions, one of which was organized in Jammu province and one in Kashmir.
In Jammu province, the main function was organized at Dera Nangali Sahib, Poonch under the supervision of Mahant Manjit Singh Ji Sharomani Dera Nangali Sahib Ji while in Kashmir, the main function was organized at Gurdwara Chatti Patshahi Amira Kadal, Srinagar, where thousands of devotees participated.
While addressing the devotees, the religious preachers highlighted the history of 6th Sikh Guru who lifted ‘Kirpans’ against injustice and cruelty meted out to Sikhs by the then rulers. The speakers on the occasion strongly criticized some antipathy forces in Sikh community for creating confusion regarding celebration of Sikh religious festivals and birthdays of Gurus and other religious Sikh personalities.
The Parkash Utsav of 6th Sikh Guru was also celebrated in Gurdwars of Jammu and other districts including Gurdwara Digiana Ashram, where Ragis, religious preachers as well as social and political personalities highlighted the role and services of Guru Hargobind Ji.
Meanwhile, the Sikh leaders passed resolutions and demanded Rs 30 lakh compensation and reservation in Government jobs for PoK refugees of 1947. They also demanded development in refugee localities and appointment of a Sikh as advisor to Governor N N Vohra.
Prominent Sikh personalities present on the occasion were Sudershan Singh Wazir (chairman, Sikh United Front, J&K), Mohinder Singh (chief organizer, Bhai Kanaiya Nishkam Sewa Society, J&K), Paramjeet Singh (president, AISFF, J&K) and many others.
