NEW DELHI : In the wake of the powerful serial blasts in the Dilkushnagar area of Hyderabad that killed 14 people and injured 119 others, Parliament today sent a message that India is united in the fight against terrorism.
On the first working day of the Budget session, the House of the People was adjourned till noon while the Council of the States was disrupted twice — first till 1200 hrs and then 1430 hrs.
Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari said the loss of precious and innocent lives in the twin powerful blasts in Hyderabad is tragic and no words are strong enough to condemn this heinous and senseless act of violence.
”While condemning such heartless acts of terrorism, we must reiterate our firm resolve to fight terrorism in all its form with determination,” Dr Ansari said.
Describing the blasts as an act of cowardice, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar said: ”This House unequivocally condemns the terrorist act and expresses profound sorrow over the cowardly act.”
The members observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to those killed in the tragedy.
