Para, a first-time MLA, has been served notice over his speech in the Assembly during the motion of thanks on the address of the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha in the House. NC MLA, Nazir Gurez has moved the notice against Para.
“The office has received a communication from Gurezi addressed to the Speaker, in which it has been stated that Parra, during his speech on the Motion of Thanks on the Lieutenant Governor’s Address on November 8, 2024, levelled certain allegations and used derogatory remarks against him”.
“Accordingly, the matter was placed before the Speaker, who has sought comments from Parra before proceeding further in the matter,” Qazi Mushtaq Ahmad, Under-Secretary in the J&K Legislative Assembly Secretariat, said in a communication to Parra.
The letter directed Parra to furnish his response in the matter within seven days so that the same could be placed before the Speaker.
The PDP legislator accused Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather’s breach of privilege notice against him as an attempt to silence the Opposition.
Parra said the National Conference had sought votes on the promise of giving voice to the people. “Since forming the Government, they have done nothing. We also moved a resolution against the abrogation of Article 370, but they did not allow it to pass in the Assembly. Now, they are diluting the issue and not allowing us to speak,” he said.
“One of the NC legislators made remarks against Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Jamaat-e-Islami, to which I responded in the Assembly. Now the government wants to scare us with such actions,” he added.
