JAMMU, May 1: Bhagwan Shri Parshuram Jayanti was celebrated here today with religious fervour and enthusiasm.
Two-day celebrations in connection with the Jayanti, began this morning at Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha, Parade Jammu. Amidst Vedic rituals and chanting of hymns, priests performed Murti Pooja of Bhagwan Parshuram, Gayatri Mata and Mata Saraswati.
Besides distinguished Vedic scholars, a number of locals and prominent people took part in the religious function following which Bhajans in praise of Bhagwan Parshuram were recited by Sat Paul Raina.
Ved Parkash Sharma, president of Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha, Varinder Mohan, Satya Paul Sharma, Nanak Chand Sharma, Dev Raj Sharma, M L Sharma, Som Dutt Magotra, Satya Nand Sharma, Jagdish Dogra, (president of Shri Sanatan Dharam Sabha Jammu), Pt Narinder Sharma (chief organizer Brahman Sabha Nowshera), Master Mukand Lal Sharma, Shiv Charan Dass, Bharat Bhushan Seth and others were present on the occasion.
The main function will be held tomorrow with performing of Yagyopaveet of around 200 desiring young boys at the Sabha.
Dogra Pujari Jyotish Shastri Sangh celebrated Bhagwan Parshuram Jayanti by organizing a grand havan and religious gathering, which were followed by a Bhandara at Hanuman Mandir Manda.
The Jayanti celebrations began with performing of Havan amidst chanting of Vedic hymns. A large number of people took part in the religious function, which was organized under the supervision of president of the Shastri Sangh, Ram Pal Shastri and general secretary Des Raj.
Prominent among others, present on the occasion, included Inderjit Khajuria, Prof Devinder Sharma, Ram Nath Sharma, Jagdish Sharma, Des Raj Shastri, Amrit Mangotra, S Gajan Singh Akali, Ravinder, Avinash Bhatia and State president of Shri Ram Sena, Rajiv Mahajan.
Brahman Sabha Jammu Kashmir also celebrated Bhagwan Parshuram Jayanti by organizing a function at Bawa Kailakh Dev Sthan. On the occasion, a grand Bhandara was organized and the participants were served Prasad.
Chairman of the Brahman Sabha Jammu, Dr C M Raina and president Shakti Dutt Sharma also visited Jhiri, Bhalwal, Gharota, Muthi, Purkhoo, Raipur Domana and other places where small religious functions were held in connection with the Bhagwan Parshuram Jayanti.
Mahant Rohit Shastri, Master Ram Paul, Sunil Sharma, Rajat Sharma, Rajkumar Sharma and other youth members of the Sabha were main organizers of the celebration programme.
