NC pays tribute to Sheikh Abdullah

JAMMU, Dec 5: J&K National Conference today paid floral tribute to Sheikh Mohd Abdullah on his 118th birth anniversary during a function held at party office Jammu today.
On the occasion, Ajay Sadhotra, additional general secretary of JKNC, Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial president, Surinder Choudhary Central Secretary, Abdul Gani Malik former Minister and Zonal president Udhampur Reasi, Bimla Luthra, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Satwant Dogra and other party workers paid tribute to the Sheikh Abdullah. The homage giving function started with Quran Khwani which was organized by GH Malik senior leader.
Speaking on the occasion, Sadhotra said sustaining secular ethos is the best and befitting tribute to Sheikh Sahib, a towering among tallest of leaders of his times in the sub-continent. “We are proud inheritors of this legacy,” he said, while recalling the landmark and pioneering Land Reforms Act, which empowered the farmers by making them masters of their own destiny overnight.

In the face of misrule and injustice, the former Minister asserted that the National Conference stands as a beacon of hope for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Under the leadership of Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, the NC has consistently strived to safeguard the rights and aspirations of the people, he added.
Rattan Lal Gupta threw light on various aspects of Sheikh Abdullah’s life and highlighted his contribution to improve the conditions for the weak and the downtrodden sections of society. He added that Sheikh Abdullah’s secular and progressive outlook will continue to be a source of inspiration for generations. Throughout his charismatic political career, Sheikh Abdullah symbolised the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Gupta said.
Senior leaders Surinder Choudhary, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Abdul Gani Malik , Bimla Luthra, Qazi Jalal Ud Din, Master Noor Hussain, Bushan Lal Bhat, Deepinder Kour, Pardeep Bali, Ayub Malik, Satwant Dogra, Dr Shamshad Shan, Shahmim Begum, Ch. Rehmat Ali, Ghar Singh, Ankush Abrol, Nar Singh, Harshvardhan, Zeeshan Rana, Waris Gill, Chander Mohan Sharma, Raghvir Singh Manhas, Rashida Begum and others also paid tribute to Sheikh Abdullah.
Meanwhile, rich tribute were paid to Sheikh Abdullah across the Jammu province. Various functions were organized to commemorate the day.
