JAMMU, Dec 16: State President of All J&K Gaddi Sippi Tribes Welfare Association (Gaddi Sabha) Parveen Jaryal called on Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Jual Oram.
While speaking, Jaryal apprised the Minister of the deplorable and miserable condition of Gaddi and Sippi tribes of J&K State. He asserted that all the previous State Governments had adopted discriminatory and callous stance towards these down-trodden communities due to which all the socio-economic development indicators like literacy rate, employment rate etc of the twin tribes are worse than any other community of the State.
Jaryal further stated that Gaddi Sippi Gujjar and Bakerwal tribes of J&K State were all conferred with ST Status way back in 1991, but State Government has made provision for welfare and upliftment of only Gujjar and Bakerwals leaving Gaddi and Sippi at the mercy of God.
Jaryal also handed over a memorandum of demands to the Union Minister demanding establishment of an Advisory Board for Welfare of Gaddi and Sippi Tribes, hostel facilities for Gaddi Sippi Tribes, scholarship facilities, due share in reservation in professional colleges of State, utilization of due share of TSP in Gaddi Sippi inhabitation and special economic package for Gaddi and Sippi tribes.
Minister gave patient hearing to Jaryal and assured him that his demands will be considered.
Others who accompanied Jaryal include Bansi Lal, Kartar Singh, etc.
