JAMMU, Dec 25: Pt Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) in a meeting here, today while strongly advocating for the passage of Kashmiri Hindu Shrines and Temples Bill said that its passage would be a prelude to return and rehabilitation of displaced Pandits to Valley.
At a meeting at Sharda Temple Bantalab this afternoon which was attended by cross section of displaced community including intellectuals, advocates, opinion makers political and social activists they all in one voice urged the Government to bring an Ordinance in place of Bill till formation of Assembly.
The meeting expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of Hindu Shrines in Valley while one senior member of the community said that the base of 80 temples and shrines has been eroded in Kashmir after the 2014 floods and there is no sign of their origin anywhere.
The members that under these circumstances it is incumbent on the Government to protect these temples and shrines which are cultural monuments and their preservation is must for the posterity and for enrichment of a rich cultural legacy of a great civilization of the world which has over 5000 years rich history.
The meeting also took stock of the Chetna Divas to be observed on December 27 and appealed the community to remain united. The speakers maintained that the Kashmir belongs to them and it seems
that 30 year long struggle and sacrifices of great leaders like Tika Lal Taploo, Prem Nath Bhat and others will bear fruit and communities worries will end once for all soon.
In the meeting two minutes silence was observed in the memory of J L Hak vice president of Sharika Peeth and a great social activist who breathed his last few days back.
Another meting was held at Jagti by the Trust I collaboration with All Migrant Coordination Committee in which the main agenda was passage of the Shrines and Temples Bill. The AMCCC assured full support to the community in its struggle and said that Trust can act as a bridge in getting entire community united round it.
