JAMMU, Oct 3: The sleuths of Special Operation Group (SOG) and cops from Nagrota Police Station arrested a passenger along with heroin valuing Rs 19 lakh in the international market.
As per police sources, based on specific information, the sleuths of SOG Jammu and cops from Nagrota Police Station led by SP Operations Jammu Vinay Sharma intercepted a Tavera car bearing registration number JK03D-6939 coming from Srinagar towards Jammu at Ban Toll Plaza.
During checking, police recovered 185 grams of heroin valuing Rs 19 lakhs in the international market from the possession of a passenger traveling in the vehicle and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Bhopinder Kumar, son of late Ram Lal, a resident of Chak Drab Khan, District Kathua.
The accused had brought the consignment from Srinagar for selling among the youth in Kathua and other districts to make them drug addict, but with his arrest, police achieved a major success to save the future of the youth from becoming drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number 214/17 under Section 8/21 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the arrested person and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Nagrota Inspector Bhushan Manhas made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Yashbir Singh, SP SOG Jammu Vinay Sharma, SP Rural Arun Gupta and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
