JAMMU, Feb 4: During the ‘Passport Maha-Mela’ held today across the entire country, Regional Passport Office Jammu took the initiative of passport service delivery to an unprecedented level by ensuring that the office was functional on a closed holiday second time within a month.
This event facilitated 214 passport applications from entire Jammu region within a day.
It is unprecedented that forty (40) Passport Seva Kendras, including the one in Jammu, were operational simultaneously on a holiday. A total of 24000 passport applicants were given the opportunity to file their passport applications throughout the country during the day.
As the Haj Committee of India has extended the last date for submission of Haj Application Forms till February 6, 2016, this event ensured that the applicants who were running behind schedule, got an additional day to complete the process of passport issuance at RPO Jammu.
The Regional Passport Office Jammu will schedule similar special events in future as well to take care of the urgent passport cases.
