This has reference to the article ‘Patel and India incomparable’ DE Nov 12.
There is no way the two personalities can be compared. Both of them lived in different periods of Indian history and held different portfolios.
Sardar Patel left the world at a time when Indian democracy was in its infancy. He, it is said, was a champion of democratic rights of people, while Indira Gandhi is believed to have subverted parliamentary democracy.
However, it is true that both were great patriots, and served the cause of country. Both of them deserve love and respect from the countrymen.
