RAMNAGAR, June 10: Ranbir Singh Pathania, former MLA and spokesperson of J&K BJP, accused the State Government of sleeping over commitments made on the floor of Assembly.
While having an extensive tour of Ramnagar Assembly segment, he questioned prolonged silence of administration regarding refurbishment of Roun-Ramnagar road, the issue which was vociferously raised by him during the various sittings of Legislative Assembly, especially in March 2018-session of the Assembly.
“Conceding to the demand, then Government had agreed for providing immediate funds for repair and refurbishment of this road which caters to a large population before 31st March, 2018. But to the utter dismay and disregard to the commitments made on the floor of House, funds have not been provided and condition of road is worsening day in and day out, giving an open invitation to accidents,” he lamented.
While making a fervent appeal to the Raj Bhawan to take such commitments made on the floor by the elected Government seriously and in a right earnest, Pathania said that it erodes the sanctity of democracy as well as people’s aspirations.
Pathania also reiterated the demand for high level judicial probe in bungling of funds on said road and sought to know why the work was sublet and given to some blue eyed contractor at the instance of political masters.
Pathania said that he has already raised the demand for four laning of Roun-Ramnagar road and stressed that there was an urgent need for construction of circular road from Udhampur-Ramnagar-Dudu-Basantgarh-Chenani-Udhampur to harness the vast tourism potential of the area.
The former MLA was quite critical of the Public Works Department for the poor condition of interior roads blacktopped under /Towns & Cities Programme which are damaged, full of potholes and are turning in to death traps. “When these roads were blacktopped, there was a “defect liability clause” attached with the contract. However neither the executing agency i.e, PWD nor the contractor agencies are bothered to adhere to this clause,” he said and added that there seems to be something fishy between the executing agency and the contractor agencies, so as to siphon off the public exchequer.
