RAMNAGAR, Jan 5:- Ranbir Singh Pathania, spokesperson Jammu and Kashmir BJP , today demanded immediate release of the pending salary of SSA teachers. Pathania reminded the administration to fulfill its commitment made on the floor of the House in response to his A/Q during budget session-2017. It was also followed by a budgetary announcement by the Finance Minister on the floor of the House with a view to ensuring timely release of salary in favour of SSA/RAMSA, MGNREGA, NHM employees to delink the salary of these classes of employees from Central assistance and make it purely regular.
Pathania termed it unfortunate that assurance from the Government has not turned in to reality and as a result there are incidences of protests of employees at various places for timely release of salary.
Pathania said that ‘right to wages’ is a fundamental right enshrined by the constitution of India and there are specific mandatory directions contained in the Payment of Wages Act too but it is unfortunate that the Directorate of SSA has taken no steps to clear the pending salary and for resolving the stalemate. Rather, the authorities of the State Government are themselves violating/impugning the Constitutional and statutory guarantees which they are supposed to uphold and get implemented. It is sorry to observe that custodians of law have become violators of the fundamental right.
Pathania made a fervent appeal to the Governor administration for a peaceful and workable solution to the stalemate so that far-off schools and the students studying therein do not un-necessarily suffer. The earlier issue is diffused, the better it is, he added.
Pathania said that the issue of irregular/untimely payment of salaries is a legacy of past regime/Governments. He expressed surprise that people who are thumping chests in protests organized by ReTs and indulging in deceptive and stage managed drama have to answer as to what constructive steps they have taken to improve the lot of SSA teachers while they were, sitting comfortably cushioned in the power corridors for decades and decades.
While turning the tables on opposition for shedding crocodile tears and crying wolf, over the issue, he said at least one silver lining which has emerged out is that after being rejected by the people, these leaders have overnight become well wishers of the commoners.
