UDHAMPUR, July 29: BJP spokesperson Ranbir Singh Pathania today expressed serious concern over the rising menace of drug trafficking in the district and underscored the urgent need to intensify efforts to curb this menace.
Pathania was addressing a grievance redressal camp here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Pathania emphasized the importance of a multifaceted and missionary approach to tackle this critical issue and asked for implementation of a Multi-Pronged Approach to tackle the menace of drug.
He highlighted the need for a comprehensive strategy, emphasizing the crucial role of community participation and urged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to authorities.
Emphasizing the importance of preventive measures, Pathania proposed the implementation of educational programs in schools and colleges to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
He advocated for the involvement of NGOs and experts to conduct workshops and seminars.
Pathania underscored the necessity of collaboration between various stakeholders, including Government agencies, law enforcement, educational institutions and community organizations.
He proposed the formation of a dedicated task force to address the drug menace in Udhampur. The BJP spokesperson also suggested reviewing and strengthening existing laws related to drug trafficking and abuse, urging lawmakers to introduce stricter penalties for offenders to deter drug-related crimes.
“Drugs destroy the health, wealth, and peace of a family,” he said and highlighted the devastating impact of drug abuse.
He underscored the urgency of the issue, referencing the recent launch of a national helpline by the Union Home Minister to encourage reporting of drug-related crimes and emphasized the importance of a collective effort.
“The proposed measures, if implemented effectively, can help curb the rising tide of drug trafficking and abuse in the district. It is imperative for all stakeholders to work together and take proactive steps to protect the future of Udhampur’s youth and ensure the well-being of the community,” he added.
