RAMNAGAR, Apr 25: Recent announcements by Uttar Pradesh Govt and videos of buses ferrying students and labourers, have lit a ray of hope for stranded labourers, students and patients of J &K.
In this very backdrop, Ranbir Singh Pathania, Spokesperson J&K BJP and former MLA Ramnagar has vouched for immediate steps to bring back stranded laborers/students from all over the country. He said that due to all-of-a-sudden announcement of twenty one day lockdown, tens of thousands of residents of J&K have stranded at various out of state destinations.
“While some of them were gone for working as laborers or other jobs in various MNCs/establishments spread across the country, others had gone for medical treatment or other allied works,” Pathania maintained.
Mr. Pathania has vouched for the cause of stuck up people for their ‘ghar wapsi’ on the pattern of the steps taken by Government of Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh and all such medical precautions, quarantine protocol and safeguards, as may be prescribed, should be observed accordingly during their translocation from various parts of country to their native places in J & K.
He said that a sense of unrest and uncertainty has hit stranded people who are, on one side, facing the threat of pandemic while on the other side they are facing threat of starvation due to lockdown.
“Being new to the places, their access to food, medicines or other allied facilities is sparse”, Mr Pathania said and called upon the J&K administration for an immediate review and monitoring of provision of food, shelter and other essential commodities to stranded J&K residents until a repatriation plan is formulated and actualized.
He further informed that in the area of Ramnagar they are starting an innovative mission called ‘Insaniyat’ for which committees at village level are being constituted, where people from all hues, shades and political platforms would be convinced to come together with a view to supporting and sustaining those families who have been worst hit during lockdown.
