Pathania for immediate compensation to rain affected people

UDHAMPUR, Aug 31: J&K BJP spokesperson and former MLA Ramnagar, R S Pathania while taking stock of the damages caused due to incessant rains in Ramnagar and adjoining areas, demanded immediate compensation for the affected people.
“A crisis-like situation has been prevailing in areas of Ramnagar, Majalta and scores of villages where incessant rains have caused whopping losses to persons, properties, residential houses and public utilities. Houses have collapsed, roads damaged and power & water supplies have been suspended,” Pathania said.
He said that excessive landslides have spoiled residential houses and agricultural lands of people at Laa (Garha Samna Banj), Urkhal-Pattian (Jansal), Chandi (Dhamma), Chigli Chori (Ramnagar), Chigla Balota, and other areas. “Given the situation in view of unprecedented rainfall in areas of Ramnagar, Majalta and other parts of Udhampur, Chenani, Ghordi and Panchari, threats of a starvation and epidemic break-out are looming large,” he added.
Pathania called for providing alternative space and assistance for building the new houses where lands underneath houses has slipped or houses damaged. He further sought immediate announcement of compensation for maize-crop losses, fruit and vegetable losses in higher reaches of Ramnagar and Majalta.
The former MLA while making a fervent appeal to the Lt Governor sought unfolding of immediate measures so as to restore power, drinking water, ration supplies and spur up human and animal healthcare facilities in the area. He also sought prompt steps for restoring/opening up of roads in the area. He also sought immediate relief to the affected families.
