JAMMU, May 1: A prominent lawyer and senior Youth Congress leader, RS Pathnia, today called upon the Government to immediately take steps for setting up of a Degree College at Majalta.
He said this while addressing a meeting of the party workers at Panchayat Ghar, Majalta.
Welcoming Government’s assurance that a Degree College would come up very shortly at Majalta, Pathania pleaded that right on 100 km stretch from Udhampur to Deoli (Billawar), there is no Degree College for the pass outs of Higher Secondary Schools. He added that the proposed degree college at Majalta would benefit not only pass-outs of as many as dozen Higher secondary schools of Majalta but also the border areas of four adjoining tehsils- Jammu, Samba, Billawar and Ramnagar.
Pathania further apprised the people that Union Minister for Human Resources and Development, Chief Minister and State Higher Education Minister had assured that Degree College would come up very shortly at Majalta.
It is pertinent to mention here that All Parties Tehsil Action Committee, Majalta, has already unleashed a massive signature campaign in order to further create pressure on Government for the genuine demand of the fifty thousand people living here.
Prominent among those who addressed the people included Kuldeep Singh, Romesh Gupta, Kulbir Singh, Mohan Lal Sharma and many others.
