RAMNAGAR, Sept 20: J&K BJP spokesperson, Ranbir Singh Pathania called upon Union Home Minister and demanded timely payment of wages to various Village Defence Committee (VDC) and Dhok Defense Committee (DDC) members.
Pathania demanded a foolproof system for proper payment and distribution of honorarium amongst the VDC members through online mode.
He claimed that VDC members are on a massive protest-path whereby a virtual ‘tug-of-war’ has started between the SPOs and members of VDCs and called for defusing the same as soon as possible.
Pathania informed that it was in 1990s when the then Government under PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee took a landmark step of constituting VDCs as well as DDCs.
“It was an innovative and a landmark step which imbibed a sense of confidence and security amongst the people living in far-flung, inaccessible areas,” Pathania said adding that the formula remarkably worked and a major portion of J&K was freed from the clutches of militancy.
