RAMNAGAR, Mar 15: While reviewing the working and functioning of Surinsar Mansar Development Authority (SMDA) and Tourism Department as well as various developmental schemes and projects initiated by these agencies in Ramnagar segment, the MLA, R S Pathania, has emphasized for making Mansar, Surinsar and Manwal as prime tourist spots of Jammu region.
He reminded the officers of the resolve of new Government to develop tourist spots of Jammu region on state-of-art basis and sought tapping of tourism potential of the ‘Pandava land’. “Given the ancient temples and excavations of manuscripts, idols, instruments and other articles, Manwal should be developed as a theatre for studying ‘temple-building, sculpture, stone-masonry and techniques, rituals and practices’ of early medieval period,” he stressed.
The MLA also sought proper conservation, beautification and development of Mansar and Surinsar lakes as irrespective of the aesthetic value, the sentiments and devotional feelings of lacs of people are inseparably attached to both of these lakes. He issued instructions for replacing old boats meant for tourists at Mansar and called for establishing ‘Recreation Parks’ for children at Mansar and dust-bins around Mansar lake. He called for hassle-free encouragement of private entrepreneurs at Mansar.
Mr Pathania also inaugurated newly-sanctioned Health Sub-Centre at Village Channi-Mansar which shall benefit as many as 7000-8000 population of the area and was overweening public demand of the local people too.
CEO SMDA, Joint Director Tourism, Tehsildar Majalta, district-level officers of PWD (R & B), RDD, PMGSY, PHE, Education Department, Soil Conservation Wing, Forests Deptt, Agriculture Deptt, Horticulture Deptt, Sericulture Deptt, Floriculture Deptt, Sheep Husbandry Deptt, Animal Husbandry Deptt, Social Welfare Deptt, Employment, Sarpanchs/Parchs and prominent people/citizens of the area attended the meeting.
