Patwar Association suspends strike on Bhalla’s assurance

SRINAGAR, July 26: Patwar Association today suspended 10 days old strike after the assurance from the Government that all their genuine grievances would be redressed on the priority basis.
Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla discussed all the demands put forth by the representatives of J&K Patwar Association, including removal of pay anomaly, construction of Patwar Khanas for keeping the necessary revenue records safe and sound, and other various issues.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner-Secretary, B.A. Runyal, and other concerned Revenue Officers.
Addressing the representatives of the Patwar Association, the Minister highlighted their basic role in making the J&K a model State and added that the Patwaris are playing a big role in providing basic facilities to the common man like issuing of permanent State Subjects, Intikhabas, mutations, land acquisition and other related revenue matters.
The Minister said  that Government is committed to redress their demands, but asked them to work with dedication and serve the people, particularly who come from far flung areas for solving their problems. He said that Coalition Government led by Omar Abdullah has taken several measures for the welfare of the employees which include implementation of 6th Pay Commission in the State. He said transparency has been ensured in the Revenue Department and examination of Naib Tehsildar, Patwaris are being conducted regularly and remits declared within the time frame.
Earlier, the representatives of Patwar association while expressing their view point said that they are very much aware of the difficulties being faced by the common men especially farmers due to their strike but said that they want that their genuine demands especially pay anomaly between seniors and juniors may be addressed as soon as possible. They assured that they will leave no stone unturned to work with more vigour and honestly for providing justice on the door steps of the common people.
